## The short version

- The product is 100% pure vermicompost: cow dung, plant waste and earthworm castings, sieved. Nothing else is added.
- It is made from animal manure and contains living micro-organisms. Wear gloves, avoid breathing the dust, wash your hands before you eat, drink or smoke, and wash any produce before you eat it.
- It is a soil amendment. It is not a pesticide, a medicine or a food, and it is not for eating.
- Results depend on your soil and care. We do not promise a yield. A soil test is the best guide.
- We do not claim any certification, licence or approval for it, and we print nutrient figures only when a laboratory report supports them.

This summary is a guide. The numbered clauses below are the policy.

## 1.What the product is

1.1The Composta vermicompost is made by earthworms from cow dung and plant waste in shaded beds, then sieved. We add nothing to it: no chemical fertiliser, filler, binder or fragrance. We describe it as "100% pure vermicompost" and mean exactly that.

1.2Indian law has a name for this category of product. Under the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic or Mixed) (Control) Order, 1985, vermicompost sold in packs for agricultural use is an "organic fertiliser", the Order requires such a pack to be marked "ORGANIC FERTILISER", and Schedule IV of the Order sets a specification for vermicompost. The name is the legal name of the product category. It is not an organic-farming certification, and we do not claim one.

1.3We do not publish or print nutrient, moisture or heavy-metal figures for a batch, and we do not say that a batch meets the Order's specification, unless a current laboratory report for that batch supports it. If you need a laboratory report for the batch you are buying, ask us, and we will tell you plainly whether one is available.

## 2.What it is not

2.1It is a soil amendment. It is not a pesticide, herbicide, fungicide or medicine, and we do not say that it prevents, treats or controls any plant disease or pest. It is not food or feed and must not be eaten or given to people or animals.

## 3.Natural variation

3.1Because it is a natural product, its colour, texture and moisture vary a little from batch to batch, and it can lose or gain moisture in storage. It has no manure smell: it smells of fresh earth. A pack that has got damp or been stored badly can smell different. Where a pack shows a batch number, please quote it when you contact us so that we can trace the batch.

## 4.Using it

4.1Our usage and dosage guidance is based on common agricultural practice and published agricultural guidance. It is a starting point. Soil, crop, climate and watering all affect results, and we cannot guarantee a particular yield, growth or outcome. A soil test is the best guide to what your soil needs.

4.2Mix it into the soil or spread it as a top dressing, and water well afterwards.

## 5.Safe use

5.1Vermicompost is made from animal manure and contains living micro-organisms. Handled sensibly it is a gentle product, but please follow these steps.

1. Wear gloves when you handle it, and cover any cuts or grazes.
2. Avoid making or breathing dust. Open large sacks outdoors or in a ventilated space, and if the product is dry and dusty, wear a dust mask.
3. Wash your hands and any exposed skin after handling it, and before you eat, drink or smoke.
4. Wash fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in it before you eat them, and keep the product away from food and from surfaces where food is prepared.
5. People with weakened immunity, or with asthma or another respiratory condition, should take extra care or ask a doctor first.
6. Large sacks are heavy. Lift them with care, and ask for help with a 25 kg or 50 kg sack.
7. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, and do not let animals eat it.

5.2If it gets in your eyes, rinse them with clean water for several minutes. If anyone eats it, seek medical advice and tell the doctor what it is. If you feel unwell after handling it, see a doctor and mention that you have been handling a product made from animal manure.

## 6.Handling and storage

6.1Keep sacks and pouches closed, off the ground, dry and out of direct sun and rain. Damp storage can cause mould and smell. Store them away from food.

## 7.Packaging and disposal

7.1Our packaging includes plastics that are covered by India's Plastic Waste Management Rules. Please reuse or recycle empty sacks and pouches where facilities exist, and do not burn them.

## 8.What the packs are

8.1Wherever we show a pack on the site, the product is vermicompost, made in India, in the net quantity in the pack's name: the Starter pouch (1 kg), the Balcony bag (5 kg), the Garden sack (25 kg) and the Farm sack (50 kg). It is sold by Nutrify Private Limited, 1st Floor, Plot No. B & B1, Vanijya Nikunj, Enkay Centre, Udyog Vihar Phase 5, Gurugram, Haryana 122016, India.

8.2For a question or complaint about a pack, write to support@thecomposta.com or call +91 90535 19734\. Our [Grievance redressal policy](https://thecomposta.com/legal/grievance-redressal) explains how we handle complaints.

## 9.What we claim and do not claim

9.1We describe what our product is made of and how it is made. We do not claim that it cures, prevents, treats or controls any disease or pest, that it is certified organic or has any other certification, licence or approval, that it is free of weed seeds or disease-causing organisms, that it is safe to eat or to use on edible plants without washing the produce, or that it gives a guaranteed yield.

9.2If we state a figure, such as nutrient content or the days a batch matures, we state it only where we have records or a laboratory report to support it. We make an environmental claim only where we can support it with evidence, and we do not use general terms such as "eco-friendly" or "sustainable" without it. We aim to keep within the Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements for Misleading Advertisements, 2022 and the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Greenwashing or Misleading Environmental Claims, 2024 of the Central Consumer Protection Authority.

## 10.Buying from outside India

10.1Some countries restrict or prohibit soil-type and manure-based products. The United States, for example, does not allow soil to be imported without a permit from its Department of Agriculture. If you are a business outside India, you must confirm that you hold every import permit and certificate your country requires before you order. Our [Export terms](https://thecomposta.com/legal/export-terms) explain what we need from you, what documents we can supply and who is responsible for what. Please also ask for a specification sheet and a sample before you commit to a large order.

## 11.Contact

11.1Questions about the product, or a safety concern: support@thecomposta.com or +91 90535 19734, Mon to Sat, 9 am to 6 pm IST. If a pack shows a batch number, quote it.
