the people behind the worms

# Our story

We make pure vermicompost, and nothing else.

Every garden begins the same way. Someone presses a seed into the ground and hopes.

What decides whether it grows is not luck. It is the soil beneath it: dark, loose and alive, full of things you cannot see. Tired soil gives up quickly. Living soil forgives almost everything.

Look closely at almost any struggling garden and you find the same quiet problem: soil that has been asked for everything and given nothing back.

Earthworms have been solving it for millions of years. They take what is left over, cow dung and plant waste, and turn it into some of the finest soil there is. We do not try to improve on that. We give them the right food, shade and time, and we get out of their way.

What comes out is dark, fine and clean. Nothing added, nothing taken out. A handful that smells like the first rain.

We make it for the balcony gardener with a dozen pots and the farmer with a dozen acres. The promise is the same for both: put life back into the soil, and let the plants do the rest.

Richer by nature is not a slogan we picked. It is the idea we are trying to live up to, one bag at a time.

_Illustration: A plant growing beside the story: it stands in cut-open soil with its roots below, an earthworm sits reading at its foot, and as the story is read the stem climbs, a leaf opens for each paragraph and a flower opens at the end_

A small promise

> Every bag leaves us the way we would want it to arrive at our own door: sealed, fine, clean, and exactly what we said it was. If it is not, write to us and we will make it right.

The Composta team

## What we believe

- _Illustration: A cut-away worm bed with scraps landing on its straw, worms working in the middle layer and a small clock whose long hand sweeps round twice_
### Let the worms do it
No shortcuts and no chemicals. Good compost takes worms and time.
- _Illustration: A bucket of kitchen scraps tipping, scraps arcing across to a barrow of dark castings, and a seedling in a pot beside it growing under a clear sky_
### Waste is a resource
Every bag is made from waste that would otherwise pollute air or water.
- _Illustration: A scoop pouring a single measure of castings into a potted plant, then going back to the desk while a check mark appears and an earthworm points at the pot to say that is enough_
### Honest advice
We tell you how much to use, and when you do not need more.
